In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Home Turf.”
In this post we are asked to write about five things that make a house a home. I wasn’t sure if these things were meant to be tangible or metaphorical…but here goes….
1)A place always waiting for you at the table. A place to share our ups and downs. A place to enjoy favorite meals.
2)Most days should always contain some laughter and a smile. Laughter over old memories. Laughter at the latest antics of the kids or the dog. The kids laughing at their mom and dad.
3)Comfort. A place to rest your head at the end of a weary day, to shelter yourself from the harshness of the world. A place with soft pillows and warm blankets. A place with your favorite snack. You can get your favorite cup of joe . There might be competition for the ice cream though.
4)Shared experiences. Our sense of home travels with us no matter where we are, Whether it be navigating through difficult challenges together, watching a favorite TV show, or going camping, our sense of family keeps us strong.
5)Acceptance. If our kids come home and with a C they know it won’t be the end of the world, and the sun will still shine in the morning. If the dinner I create doesn’t quite end up like I expect it to, I know my family won’t revolt for long.
6)Love. Self explanatory. I know, there was only supposed to be five.
